Fiesta de carnaval
¡Hola a tod@s!
Hoy hemos celebrado en el cole la fiesta de carnaval.Ayer la profe Susana nos explicó muchas cosas sobre el carnaval en Galicia,cómo se celebra » O Entroido» en diferentes localidades y además vimos una presentación con los trajes típicos de
«os peliqueiros» «os cigarróns» «as pantallas»…y recordamos al «loro Ravachol».Nos gustó mucho su charla y aprendimos cosas interesantes.
Esta tarde celebramos el carnaval desfilando y bailando al ritmo de la música . Pudimos ver las actuaciones de alumnos más mayores y tomamos un rico chocolate con churros de merienda.Por último ,se entregaron los premios de los concursos de máscaras, antifaces y caretas. También los premios a los mejores disfraces.Dificil elección…todos estábais muy simpáticos.
Gracias por participar con vuestros trabajos,con postres de carnaval y por recibir al carnaval con tanto color y tantas sonrisas…
Os deseamos que estos días disfruteis mucho.

Hello guys!
Today we celebrated the Carnival party at school. «Profe» Susana came to our class and talked about Carnival in Galicia and all the traditions. We loved it and we learnt many new things!
This afternoon, we could see the school parade, the older kids’ dances and then we ate chocolate with «churros»… it was super delicious! Yum!
And last but not least, we were all dressed up in beautiful fancy dresses. There was a costume contest and it was really hard to decide because all of us were amazing!
We all thank you for bringing carnival masks, recipes and carnival food.
It couldn’t have been better! Have great holidays and enjoy!

Nudos marineros
¡Hola a tod@s!
Para finalizar la unidad de los materiales, los alumnos de segundo hoy hemos aprendido a realizar nudos marineros. Ya estábamos impacientes por aprender y la verdad es que resultó una clase interesante y divertida donde aprendimos el «nudo doble», «nudo llano», «as de guía», «nudo corredizo» … Unos con más éxito que otros… pero es importante seguir practicando y no abandonar en el primer intento.Todos os mostrasteis muy ilusionados y estuvisteis geniales. Casi estamos preparados para navegar.

¡Yo sí reciclo los materiales! /I do recycle the materials!

Hemos trabajado el reciclaje de diferentes materiales y lo que puede ocurrir en el planeta si no reciclamos, como el cambio climático, entre otras cosas. Hemos leído el cuento «Topsy and Tim Go Green»,hemos escuchado canciones y visto vídeos muy entretenidos sobre cómo reciclar para salvar nuestro Planeta. ¡Queremos aportar nuestro granito de arena y ayudar a mantener nuestro entorno limpio!

We have also been working on recycling and the consequences if we do not recycle the materials, for example, climate change. We have read «Topsy and Tim Go Green», we have sang a few songs and watched very interesting videos about how to recycle and save our Planet. We want to keep our environment clean. Museo etnográfico / Ethnographic museum
Buenos días a tod@s!
Ayer tuvimos la oportunidad de visitar el museo etnográfico que organizaron los niños de E.I.3! Nos recibieron en sus aulas y nos explicaron con gran detalle la función y el origen de muchos objetos antiguos. Había pesetas, teléfonos, planchas de hierro, libros en latín y hasta uno de los primeros portátiles! Nos marchamos encantados con su atención y buena organización.

Good morning everyone!
Yesterday, we had the opportunity to go and visit an ethnographic museum at the infant school 3. They welcomed us in their rooms and they told us about the origin and function of many old objects. They were very friendly and they explained everything in detail. We could see old coins, telephones, irons, books in latin and even one of the first laptops! We were delighted with their work and their good organization!

Día de la Paz / Peace Day
¡Buenas tardes a tod@s!
Hoy hemos celebrado en el cole el Día de la Paz. Reflexionamos,vimos vídeos interesantes y cada uno de nosotros escribimos un mensaje dentro de una paloma blanca. Después de leer nuestros mensajes, cantamos por la Paz «Color esperanza» de Diego Torres, alzando nuestras manos. Fue un gesto emotivo y nos ha hecho pensar en lo importante que es intentar conseguir la Paz en el Mundo.

Today we celebrated Peace Day at school. We gave it some thought, watched some interesting videos and wrote a message inside a peace dove. After reading the messages, we sang a song and put our hands up. It was very emotional and it made us think about our big role to find Peace in the World.
¡Somos unos grandes artistas! / We are great artists!
Nos hemos convertido en grandes artistas, hemos cogido lienzo y pintura y hemos creado nuestra obra de arte, en este caso un jarrón de arcilla. Hemos aprendido nuevos materiales y sus propiedades y el resultado ha sido muy gratificante. Como estímulo hemos visto la película «El Viejo y el Mar», una obra escrita por Ernest Hemingway. Hemos disfrutado mucho y…¡aún estamos comenzando!

We have become great artists. We took some paper and paint and started to create our own work of art, in this case a vase of clay. We did a brainstorming and learnt about the materials and their properties, and it was great! We watched Ernest Hemingway’s «The Old Man and the Sea». We are already enjoying the unit…and this is only the beginning!

«Materiales»/»The Materials»
Los alumnos de segundo estamos trabajando ya en la tercera unidad de indagación : «Materiales» .
A lo largo de esta unidad aprenderemos a ser indagadores,íntegros y pensadores. Descubriremos que los materiales tienen propiedades que afectan a su uso: el diseño y la fabricación de las embarcaciones tradicionales gallegas está ligado al medio ambiente y a los materiales disponibles en nuestra flora.
Esperamos que esta unidad resulte tan motivadora como las anteriores porque tenemos muchas cosas que descubrir juntos…

We are already working on our third Unit of Inquiry, called «The Materials». All throughout this unit, we will learn to be inquirers, upright and thinkers, as it is part of our student profile. We will learn that the materials have properties that affect their use: the ship building in Galicia is linked to the environment and the materials we can find in it.
We hope you enjoy this new unit, at least as much as the previous ones. There’s still a lot to discover…
